Cable Television
Cable television is almost a mix between radio and television advertising. It carries the same visual message as broadcast television but with smaller, more-targeted audiences.
Considerations when buying cable television are:
- Target audience - pick the networks that reach your target audience - HGTV reaches homeowners, ESPN reaches men, etc.
- Production costs - like television, you'll need to produce a commercial to air and a good commercial can add a lot to the budget.
- Efficiency - how much of your target audience do you get for each dollar you spend?
- Geography - cable television can be used to target specific neighborhoods or to target entire cities.
If you want to reach a truly broad group, try television advertising. If you want a specific target but on a smaller budget, try radio advertising. Other geographically-targeted options are internet advertising and billboard advertising.
