Radio Advertising
Radio advertising is fast, affordable, and effective. Radio stations usually target themselves to a specific demographic audience, such as young adults aged 18-34 or women aged 25-49. This means that although the audiences are much smaller than TV, they are great for targeting a specific audience without wasting your budget on extra people who are unlikely to purchase your product or service.
Considerations for radio are:
- Target audience - is the radio station the right one to reach your target? Not many older, wealthy men are listening to Top 40 chart-oriented stations, but lots of 18-34 year-olds are.
- Time of day - radio is very adaptive when it comes to time - if you're a restaurant it's easy to promote your lunch menu before 1pm and then your dinner menu until 8pm.
- Creative - you can't put your logo on a radio ad so you need to make sure that your brand is clear as well as your message.
If you want to reach a very broad audience, try
television advertising. If you want to reach a geographically targeted audience try
billboard advertising or
internet advertising.
