Television advertising is great to reach a really big audience. If your product or service can be used by pretty much anyone, or by a really broad audience, such as all homeowners in a whole city, then TV is probably the best choice for you (for more targeted audiences try radio advertising, or internet advertising.)
Considerations when making the choice to use television to market your product are:
- The cost of television production (it takes a little planning to make it cost-efficient)
- Budget - TV is generally the most expensive media choice (but it also has the biggest returns)
- Audience - people watch shows, rather than networks or stations, so you need to make sure that you buy the shows that your target audience watch.
- Efficiency - With TV it's not about how many spots you got, but how many people you got for your dollars.
